I found Dieter Roth collection "Flat waste" suprising and unusual, he had an interest in waste, objects that we throw away because we estimate that they've done their life, or that we don't care about. The way he represented his work in plastic sleeves was curious. It emphasises his interest in the waste, as organising each  waste into plastic sleeves takes time and also suggest that it is precious. He clearly did not want an aesthetic outcome as he did not organise his work on the wall. Also, the fact that he stored his collections into folders reminds us of archives, maybe he was taking records of human waste throughout the years.

Chiaru shiota

As a group we were interested by this artist and the way she displays objects, we attempted to hang our objects in order to represent them still lives and make a miniature version of all this string network.

Ivan Juarez Tropic of cancer

This work helped for our work, light is coming through the material however the person is still protected, we want to use the same idea for a "bridge" connecting two buildings.

Louise Bourgeois "Spiders"

Spider Silk

Spider silk is something of a wonder material.  Famously tough, it can be stronger than steel and more tear-resistant than Kevlar. Although a human can walk through a spider web with relative ease, that is because each strand is only three-thousandths of a millimetre in diameter. Scaled up to a full millimetre, it’s estimated that a spider web could catch a helicopter as effectively as it currently entraps flies.

Hang Instrument

Annotations

It is important to look at different versions of each word.

Hang for instance, is also an instrument not only a process. This music could be listened to during our experiment and we could play an extract during our speech.

Taryn Simon The innocents

Text box

I was intrigued and inspired by the work of Taryn Simon "The innnocents". Photography is used as a tool to transform an innocent into a criminal, the photograph become a witness of the truth. Photography has both the ability to blur truth and fiction. I liked the way this collection of faces became meaningful together, these faces all have captivating features it is interesting to see that the photographer seems to have chosen persons who don't look innocent. He breaks down the clichés and i interpret his work as a message to us, "don't judge by the cover, innocent and criminals are not always what you expect to see". This work will definitely inspire me for my future projects.

Jerszey Seymour - The workshop chair

Flying Circus (Calder)

Annotations

In a circus, acrobats demonstrates their skills to the public and many of these involve balancing on a rope.

This feature of the circus is the most interesting to our project, as we'd like to explore human interactions with this material.

An artistic rendering of a circus by Calder:

The materials used by Calder are definitely inspiring for our "Idea Factory" project; wire, wood, strings.
